The Challenge
In an era of digital noise, the modern dinner party has become a background for screens rather than a space for connection. I wanted to design a sanctuary for busy creatives—reclaiming the dinner table by treating live music as a structural ingredient that mirrors the culinary experience.

The Concept
A “Tech-Free Sanctuary” for ten guests. A curated 4-course meal where every dish is paired with a live, custom soundscape. By removing digital distractions, Opalate transforms a standard dinner into a high-fidelity sensory reunion.
01. The Protocol
To ensure total presence, I designed the “Analog Entry.” Guests check their phones into a bespoke valet box upon arrival. A dedicated photographer captures the “Director’s Cut” of the night, freeing guests from the need to document and allowing them to simply exist.

02. The Sonic Pairing
I live-score the meal using custom-produced mashups in Ableton. The sound transitions in lockstep with the menu: from warm, jazz-infused lo-fi during the appetizers to structural deep house that matches the weight of the main course.

03. The Reunion Effect
The finale shifts the energy from dining to movement. As the table clears, the tempo rises into a high-energy set. The result is a seamless transition from deep conversation to collective celebration, all within a curated, private environment.
